Malala Yousafzai, 14 year old student of  Mingora town, is known for spreading women education and rights in Swat Valley. Despite of receiving threats from Taliban, who had already blown up hundreds of girls’ schools, and being banned from attending school, she still continued to spread education  passionately since the age of 11. What gave her more popularity was the blog she wrote on BBC urdu about talibans taking over swat valley and putting ban on women shopping and education.

On 9th October,Malala suffered a bullet injury , by a  gutsy taliban gunmen who attempted to assassinate her while she was returning home from school after morning classes. The days following her injury were very critical. She is in a serious condition and is being seen by doctors at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. Malala was flown from Pakistan on board an air ambulance provided by the United Arab Emirates and accompanied by a full medical team. A bullet which hit Malala’s skull was removed by surgeons in Peshawar in north-west Pakistan last week but she was later transferred to a military hospital for more special treatment.

The incident has drawn the attention of not only the international community, but also thankfully sparked anger amongst the Pakistani public. Rallies have been taken out on the streets in support of the young activist. But this is not enough, Pakistan authorities need to wake up now .The beacon of hope that inspires humanity is fighting for her life and a lot is expected from Pakistan today. While the case has sparked outrage amongst Pakistanis and the international community, it remains to be seen whether the Pakistani establishment will set an example by warding off Taliban and safeguarding thousands of Malalas.
